Spruce top Favilla

Saw this spruce top Favilla soprano on eBay. I'd never seen one like it before. I asked Tom Favilla about it. He said it could be original, as his family did some experiments with spruce tops, but never offered them in their product line. He also said it could just as easily be a modded uke.

It seems like I remember a forum member doing that with a Favilla, but it might have been a Martin.

Yes, there is a 40s Martin Style 0 which was modded with spruce top by Joel Eckhaus. A few UU members, including me, have owned it. Nice uke, still owned by an active member here.
