A client asked me to build an 8 string Ukulele, similar to the Martin Taropatch. Does anyone have any plans, or know where I may find them? I searched online and haven't found anything... Thank you!

Same instrument as a standard 4 string but double the tension, so build with thicker soundboard or braces, or as I do a combo of both.

Keep in mind the cube rule where doubling the depth of a beam makes it 8 times stiffer. So it doesn't take much to handle the extra tension.

Ask your client about preferred nut width. My standard 4 string uke has a 36mm nut, and for 8 strings my clients ask for somewhere between 38 - 40mm width.

I use either Gotoh UPT's or mandolin tuners depending on client preference.

Sorry for the delay, but thank you for the insight! What is your string spacing for the 8 string Ukulele, if you don't mind me asking?

I really do love those Gotoh UPT tuners. I've started using them myself.

Most of them I build with a 40mm wide nut. 4mm in from each edge for outer strings. 2.3mm between octave pairs on the ee and aa. 2.5mm between gG and cC.
