I've been thinking of building an 8-string tenor uke. Is there anything in particular I should be aware of? I realize the headstock will probably have to be larger, and the bridge and saddle will be different.

I'm not about to start on this today, but it's been in the back of my mind for a while.

You'll probably want thicker top, bottom and sides as well as braces because the string tension will jump from around 44# to 88# or so. How much I don't know, but others here probably have a good idea. Would depend on the woods chosen for the build.

Yeah, the tension of four more strings would make a difference.
