Plug Cutters

I finally bought a set of plug cutters. I should have gotten them years ago. I used to cut dowels to fit into holes, but I never had the right size dowel.

I have a distant plan to make an 8-string uke. I'll be using a ready-made neck, so I had to plug the original holes. I'll decide where to put the four-per-side tuners and drill new holes. I bought padauk veneer to put over the headstock, so the plugs won't show.

I must always have a project so I have an excuse to keep me from doing work around the house.

That sounds like a good plan. Show us your progress. With work around house remember, happy wife, happy life.

Don't forget to put in a carbon fiber strip to reinforce the neck because the string tension will be doubled.

My wife passed away several years ago, and my son and I are not meticulous housekeepers. : )
