Last week I received some reclaimed mahogany from two different sources.. on reception I noticed after resaving one type appeared to be muck lighter than the other..so on completion I got out the scales and weighed them without the necks all dimensions are identical ..and it worked out one was 11 percent heavier

Wood is a very variable substance, but 11% is a heck of a big difference. With reclaimed timber, I guess there could be a difference in the way the wood has been treated in the past and what substances it might have absorbed. Also, there is mahogany and mahogany. The name is widely applied to some species that are not all that similar.
