Finger Picking--Strumming-Chord Melody, etc.

I do a little of everything, but I’m most satisfied when I can weave the melody into a rhythm - usually strumming, but sometimes a more staccato beat for jazzy stuff.

I've never quite gotten the hang of finger picking, but will admit I haven't put a lot of effort into learning or practicing it. I enjoy playing chord melodies a lot. At first it was because I'm a shy & mediocre singer. It was a way to play a song melody without having to sing. I've spent the past year working on my singing (both in bravery & technique) so playing chord melodies isn't just a defense now. Now I can enjoy both singing/strumming, as well as chord melody songs. Having a decent repertoire of chord melody songs has come in handy in my music volunteering at my local hospital. They let only stringed instruments musicians come back, and we can only play instrumental music.

I play chord melody using my thumb mostly.
