From the fertile imagination of Seattle's Jere Canote (who's certainly no slouch playing the uke). http://www.canote.com/banjo.php

Yup, it's a banjolele. He makes all sorts of guitar-shaped art-banjos as well as some seriously nice banjos. I originally had him build this as a 4 string mandolin-banjo, but it was just too intrusive when played with a flatpick. Sounds much nicer as a low-G concert uke, though. Flame maple body/neck with a birdseye fingerboard

It's pretty ingenious, actually. Neck and body are one piece. The mounted head fits into a rabbet cut into the back, and the shell (which has a smaller diameter than the circular cutout) is tensioned via machine screws going into threaded inserts on the body itself.

And, like a true Tele, the strings go through the body.

Whoa, that's cool. I learned to play guitar on my dad's old Tele, so this makes me nostalgic.

Hello, I'm new here and this is my first post!

There aren't any "serious" ukulele options here in the Philippines, the only branded ukes we have are Ovations and Samicks. I wanted a nice ukulele so I had one custom made in Cebu, the guitar capital of the Philippines. Not bad for a $200 all koa concert w/ pickup. I don't know if it's solid or laminate, I don't know how to tell, but judging from the egde of the soundhole, it seems solid. It may not be branded, but I'm very much happy with it. Pardon the ugly pictures, I just used my phone.
