Man, prices have really changed over the years. I remember when I first started playing in '94. I had my first Kamaka Soprano, bought it for $375 from a friend. Then my mom bought me a Sonny D Tenor for $450 brand new from the Sonny D store... Its been a couple years, but man things have changed, especially the prices. Now Kamaka lists its Soprano at $650... I'm looking to buy a new uke as all I have right now is a Martin T-1 (Mahogany) and dont really like to take it out a lot. Guess I'll start saving for my next Kamaka (Alto or Tenor can't decide)... or if anybody has any suggestions...

Brah, everything goin up. Check the 808 Luthiers List. You can get some relatively inexpensive instruments (compared to the K's). Just a matter of doing a little research. BTW, Sonny D is still making ukes, check 'um out ova hea.
