I play Worth browns on my Kala mahogany tenor.
A couple of weeks ago I changed to low G (not my favourite tuning these days) because I need that tuning for a few fingerpicking accompaniments.
At first I swapped out the G for a classical guitar D string and tuned low G - Worked ok. A bit boomy. Then I changed it for an Aquila wound low G string - Worked ok. Still a bit boomy.
Yesterday I got some Worth low G with the plain G. Excellent! Now the volume and tone of all the strings is balanced. Moral of the story: on my uke, if I have to have low G, Worths are the way to go.
PS. Never seen Fremont Blacklines in the UK...
