Hi all,
I started a ukulele club in Cairns on the 1st of April - no joke
We had a huge turnout for this first meeting and I reckon it'll be even bigger next time! We had a ball!
Most people are beginners at this point in time, but at the end of the night we have an open mic type session for more advanced players or those who wish to share their skills with others. It's a conducive environment for making music, socialising, etc with a small stage, all set up and ready to go for those who wish to strut their stuff!
Meetings are held first Tuesday of every month at Tramways, the back room of the Cape York Hotel (cnr Bunda and Spence Streets) in Cairns. This is a very cosy venue with a private bar! 7.30pm start. For more info and song lists etc, www.uke.com.au
Everyone's welcome. You don't even need to have a uke or be able to play. We will lend you a uke and teach you on the spot. It's all about having fun!
So, if you are in town, make sure you join us! Or drop by and see me at Music City (55 Sheridan Street), the Far North's ukulele specialist.
Cheers,
Gaby
