Default What kind of ukulele to buy?

hey guys im looking into buying a first ukulele because my friend inspired me to play one...iono what are some good brands or what arent good brands im kinda poor and cheap so i don't want to spend $100 on that Lanikai tenor LU-21 model uke i'd rather settle for a soprano uke with GHS strings (i think thier pretty good) and name it after my favorite character in family guy "meg"

Agreed-- and to the original poster, no, GHS strings *aren't* good. They're pretty much just the cheapest, and thus what most ukes come with out of the box. If you end up getting anything with what the seller describes as GHS or simply "black" strings, replace them immediately, and you'll be improving the sound of your instrument about a hundred fold right away.
