As much as I love the main site, I would rather a forum app.

I would pay for the app for sure only if it had forums. seems like you had a pretty good response! so is it in the works? hope so.

A responsive website would be a better investment. Something designed for desktop/laptop, tablet and phone-sized devices. With just a few breakpoints you could have a site that would be functional for any of the platforms/operating systems people use to access your site and you wouldn't have to deal with the hassles of Apple's idiotic rules around in-app subscriptions.
