what chords i could use with

D, F#m, Em, A7

in a song, where those are the verse chords. i need something for the chorus and maybe bridge. =)

any ideas?

cheers,
Winona

after giving those one measure each twice, I think there's space for more minor chords... so I went all out:

D, F#m, Em, A7
D, F#m, Em, A7
Bm, F#m, Gm, Am

That's a verse, leading into a pause.. then the next verse, or into a chorus or bridge. Good luck

/edit: For some reason, the progression reminded me of Men At Work's 'Overkill', you might like to check that out...

You are essentially in D major

Code:
Scale I	ii	iii	IV	V	vi	vii*
D major scale	D	Em	F#m G	A	Bm	C#dim

So what you have there is a I, iii, ii, V7 progression.
The next bit is all super "minor-fied" - so essentially: vi, ii, iv, v

It works fine, but you could try to play with the major V (A) or V7 (A7) to see if it resolves differently. Also you can pop that Gm back up to major (iv back to IV).

Give this whirl:
