Exercises for classical picking patterns

Thanks- my hands are huirting now so have stopped to type this message!

thanks for this!

now that's some technique right there... my fingers want to intuitively move back to other patterns... agggrrh

Thanks very much! I really appreciate the help. You are tuned low G?

It seems to work in High G anyway.

Thanks again!

Tom

Yes, I'm playing a tenor tuned lowG. Not all patterns sound well with re-entrant tuning and for some the thumb picking should be changed for "bass"-accompaniment. Those pattern that have an alternative bass-structure will work in high-G as well.

Thanks ruukie,

Here is an easy exercise that I enjoy playing. I was written in the 1800s for guitar:

Thanks for this nice piece BobN. It sounds pretty like Carulli :) It makes use of some different techniques, like the double-picks and some melodic transitions I would play with rest strokes. Thanks for posting,
Jens (ruukie)

Thanks for adding that one! I have switched to low G now. i think it will be better for the kind of music I want to play.

Take care,

Tom

As a classical guitarist, your instruction vids and such don't really break any new ground for me. But for many self-taught ukers they do, and they open the doors to classical fingerpicking for those not familiar with it. As such, I truly applaud what you're doing and thank you for introducing this style to a wider audience. :)

I come from a guitar background with an emphasis on Travis Picking...I found his approach similar in some aspects, but with new twists all the way around.

Brilliant...these lessons have happened along just as I happen to be needing them!

Thanks for posting them!

I worked this out by myself: D=Daumen=German word for thumb!

I have made click tracks for practacing the tremalo picking and I think they are helping!
I even have them on my phone and practice "air-uke" style as I walk along the streets of Brighton...I must look mad, especially as I tend to count out loud!

Aloha Bobn,
Thanks for the exercise tabs, I appriciate it very much and I will be practicing it.
Your kindness is a language we all understand...
Keep them strings vibrating.....Uke ON!!! MM Stan...
