Just wondering if anyone has tried this yet.

Don't know what the Dremel trio is. I've got 8 or 10 Dremel rotary tools that are dedicated to a specific purpose. My favorite general purpose Dremel is the Stylus. It's portability makes up for the lack of power. Still, it's powerful enough for dozens of every day tasks.

The Dremel Trio is a new tool with a base. It looks a lot like a small jig saw with a rotating tip instead of a saw blade. Dremel has them on their web page. It doesn't look like it has the accuracy and fine adjustment needed for instrument making.

I think a standard Dremel with a Stewart MacDonald base plus a radius attachment is a better way to go.

I agree completely with Konala. Making instruments with the Trio seems like it would be unnecessarily difficult because of the lack of accuracy and inability to adjust the tool effectively.
