Brand new Oscar Schmidt OU53 baritone in the Hawaii craigslist for $135.00
MSRP...says $269.00...

I have a Oscar Schmidt OU55CE:
http://www.oscarschmidt.com/products/ukes/ou55ce.asp

MSRP says $469.99, but most places sell it for about half that price (try Instrumentalley.com).

Compared to other baritones I used, the tone is not as loud and projected. It's on the mellow side, and the tension is quite low, even with Aquila baritone strings.
It has a good, balanced sound, but not very loud.

Great as an electric though, and looks so pretty :)

Aloha Kissing,
That's the same problem I had with my laminate Koa OU5, muffled sound but tone was allright...I thought I received a lemon
from buying on-line. So I guess I'm not the only one....but I really like my OU3 it has volume and tone, totally 180 from OU5.

Thanks for your input!! Appricate it very much!! MM Stan...

I love the baritone and find it an easy switch moving over from guitar, especially when I have been playing nylon string. I have an Oceana baritone--a little known make--which at the time was handcrafted in Ecuador. The top is Western Red Cedar, back and sides Ecuadorian Black Cherry, fretboard Panamanian Redwood, and headstock also Black Cherry. I will try to give you a photobucket link:

Aloha Drjond56,
Many thanks for sharing the pic's of your baritones. They look awesome, and me too the transition from
guitar to baritone is alot easier...I like the warm rich sounds of them...Keep strumming them strings...MM Stan...
