SOLD!
You may know that we're adopting. We hope to have a little boy from Russia by Wintertime. So I've got to make room in my closet for our new family member's clothes! Therefore, I'm selling some great ukuleles, a couple which I never thought I'd part with.
But things change. We need the space. And the money!
Here is info on the ukulele:
Unknown Japanese model - 1950's or 1960's:
This Mahogany ukulele looked like it had never been played when I bought it. In fact, it still had a tag on it telling how to tighten the friction tuners. When I played it, I found out why - the nut was way too high! But I simply sanded it down and the result was one of my best-sounding ukes! I played it alot after putting Aquila nylgut strings on it. Here's videos as I compare it with other ukes (It's labelled "Unknown brand" in the video):

I love the fretboard! It is painted to look like woodgrain. And the "inlay dots" are plastic discs glued onto the uke. But don't let that fool you - It sounds great! Some days I prefer this one to my Martin! I put new tuners on this one too!
Why buy a new Johnson uke for $45 - $50 bucks when this one sounds infinitely better for the same price?
