i'm not exactly a beginner after playing for 3 months but are there any other strings that are made of different material instead of the usual nylon? just wondering since i'm planning to save up for a Kala KA-TEM tenor.

aquila strings are a synthetic nylgut string and they sound great...give them a shot

Yep they are some nice ones...I have a set of those, a set of martin flurocarbon and been trying to find something good for my 1916-1918 Rolando banjolele...I think I got some staggs on it but dont really like them...not sure what to put on it to make it sound good.

I been hearing things about Worths browns I think...some say they are too thick and some say they are great...will have to give them a try.
Actually, Worths are thinner than Aquilas, at least the ones I've tried. The Aquilas felt clunky under my fingers. I tried the Worth clears but liked the browns better.

But there is no definitive consensus. Try a variety and see how you like them. Some people find a certain brand/type of string works better on one uke than another.
