Play when trying out a new uke to see whether it 'fits' you?

(I know there's probably about a million types that one would try, but i still wanna hear 'em :) )

Brown Sugar - seriously

I try to learn as many of MGMs licks as I can. They can be pretty revealing about a uke's characteristics.

Honey Baby, Weeps/some kind of instrumental, and maybe some flamenco type stuff. If that all sounds good, it's a done deal.

The Beatles' "All My Loving." It's the one I seem to have practiced the most, so the way it feels and sounds on the ukuleles I already own is sort of ingrained in my head.

Five Foot Two, On the Beach at Waikiki in second postion, Sweet Home Chicago, I Shot the Sheriff (one pass picking lead). Those get me around the fret board.

yeah Lexxy, what Ukuleleblues said...anything that gets you around the fretboard

For me its old time folk and jazz tunes: a strummer or two, a bit of picking, chord solos and some melody note playing.

"Something" by The Beatles. And then "Five Foot Two" to see how it sounds fast and hard.

Top Bottom
