How to do a Low-G without buying new strings (video)

I found this in an old thread from a year or so ago and decided to give it a go and videoed it.
basically , move G string to E and then move the C and E down to G and C - retune!
In my case, my G string wouldn't fit the E because it had been cut, but it was ok, i had a nother uke with same strings and swapped one with the same Gauge size that was longer

Thanks, I had wondered if this might work. I accidentally bought a "low G" soprano set of strings, I plan to reverse this to make them reentrant.

To be fair, they dont sound super great (possibly the cheapness of the uke!), probably better to buy the strings if you can, but this works to just give it a go

How were the tensions on the strings? It seems that they would all be loose except for the new 'A' string. Cool trick though.

I have my Tenor strung this way and have had for over a year now.
No drastic slackness of the strings,sounds fine and plays fine.What
more could you ask? (Assuming you want the LowG sound,that is!)

I think its a little low for one of my strings, but partly because the Uke is a very low deep throaty sounding uke anyway. Otherwise its fine, perfectly usable
