I notice with the guitarlele there is a lot of discussion generated around which strings to use. It is still less than 3 weeks since I got the GL-1 and, hey, it's just got it's 3rd set of strings.

The ones that it came with were ok apart from the 3rd string being really buzzy, I hoped it wasn't the frets or neck and replaced the whole set with Pro Arte EJ45 normal tension classicals. That solved the buzz thank goodness, but strings 1 and 2 sounded a bit dull and muted by the other strings.

I've seen lots of advice about getting a Low G set with 2 classical wound strings for 5 and 6. It felt to me like the plain 4th would suffer from a bit of dullness so I've taken a different path. I got a set of Pro Arte EJ45 'Composites' to use for strings 3 to 6. Strings 1 and 2 were going to be Aquila but I decided to first try some Augustine as they are terrific on my full classical guitar. So here is the list:

The strings are -
1st - Augustine Blue (no info on gauge but they seem high tension to me)
2nd - Augustine Blue
3rd - Pro Arte J4503C Exclusive composite (coffee colour)
4th - Pro Arte J4504C Exclusive composite 'Zyex' core long life
5th - Pro Arte J4505C Exclusive composite 'Zyex' core long life
6th - Pro Arte J4506C Exclusive composite 'Zyex' core long life

and a sample to hear them is here

Always ready to give more advice/explanation.
Thanks, Ken.
