Good pineapple ukulele?

Hey I got a shitty mahalo soprano ukulele and I decided it is time to move on...

I just love pineapple ukulele's shape but couldn't find any one that is good or at least that I can notice some change from what I have...

How about trying ukulelejunky.com ? I believe they're in canada as well.

As for the novelty Kala ukes... I can't speak for them as I've never played them.
 
In a country as big as Canada, finding the ukulele you want at a local music store is almost impossible. Your average music store, whether it is in Canada, the US or Europe, will stock just a few brands of ukulele. Some of them are good and some of them are terrible. They get them through big distrubtion networks. Every music shop can get the same ukes.

All the smaller uke companies (and there are many) cannot produce enough instruments to work this way, so they sell through a limited number of more specialist uke stores. If you want to buy a good ukulele and have some choice, you need to buy from one of these specialist stores. The company that I represent only supplies certain stores where the customer can get a good choice of ukuleles.

My advice: do some research and then buy at a reputable specialist store.
 
You won't go far wrong with the Kala Pineapple. They're not the best ukes in the world but they're proper intruments that tune up well and stay in tune. Big improvement over your Mahalo. I guess you're looking at the standard one for $67.50? Looks fine - I've no experience of the painted ones but they're probably much the same.
 
I think there is a great one for sale here on the Forum.
 
You'd be fine with a Kala from L and M.

However, you might get a way better deal buying a used one. There is a large mark-up on ukes in Canada (even though the cdn dollar is so strong).

If you're in Toronto, try to get to the Twelfth Fret on the Danforth. They have a large selection of ukes - though the prices are a little bit steep. It's worth going just to try out a few different models (so you can see which one you want to buy cheaper online!).

Guitarjunky is based out of Montreal, I believe. They seem to carry a good variety at reasonable prices.
 
I have a Kala KA-PSS and really like it, but I have to admit I originally got it because it was so darn cute! I also recently got a Oscar Schmidt OU2-P and since I put Aquila strings on it I'm liking it a lot too and since it is a concert size I find it much easier to play. I do have to say that both of them came with godawfull GHS strings on them, but once switched to Aquila's they both play and sound quite nice.
 
Makai makes a nice pineapple too. Very budget friendly.
 
don't know if you looked at that mainland mango that is posted in the for sale area for like 220 I think. I don't know what you want but I got my makala pineapple for 39 bucks.
 
I have a Ohana PK-25G and love it. Its all solid mahogany and sounds just as good as it looks. Got mine at Uke Republic

You will be super happy with one.
All I can say about others is the Luna could work if you know someone that can set it up
 
MY son just got a great Ohana solid mahogany soprano pineapple from UkeRepublic and it's sweet; Have only heard the Kamoa's on YouTube, but they sound like a bargain at $118, and of course if your purse will allow it, the new Mainland longneck concert pineapple uke. Lots more, but the great sounding ones pricey.
 
I have one of the previous generation Kamoa Pineapples and I like it. It was affordable and it sounds nice. The frets on mine are pretty tall, so if you press chords very hard, the intonation will sound all whacky from the stretching of the strings. Also it came with Aquilas, but I changed them to Worth-BM and I think they suit the instrument better.

I would stay away from the Luna tattoo pineapple uke. I'm a beginner and it's my first uke, but it took some work and $ to get it to play ok. It seems to be the consensus everywhere on this uke.

I love the shape too. I've been checking out the boat paddle ukes. I would love to get one one day. Check em out
