I got some Aquila Nylgut strings for my uke. What I don't get is, my strings are for a concert ukulele and my ukulele is a soprano. would the strings be fine, or would I have to get soprano ukulele strings?

Thanks,

Aloha IBankai145,
Look in the back of your Aquila package, it has the soprano area...is it checked... give them a call back and tell them they made a mistake...Welcome to the UU and our forums..Have fun and enjoy...Happy Strummings.. MM Stan

Nope. They're concert ukulele strings. I was wondering if they would work on a soprano.

Thanks,

Yes, your strings are fine. They will be a bit longer, that's all.

Oh, okay. I thought that concert strings had a higher string tension or something. Guess not...:)

A topic that often crops up.Personally,I use Aquila
Concert strings on all of my sopranos, which being
(mostly) laminates, gives the soundboard a bit of
extra drive or vibration. Thus, louder if you want to
play that way,and with more a responsive tonal range
all across the spectrum. In my opinion....

That's nice! So it's kind of like using heavier strings on a guitar. I've never thought of it that way...
