your favorite chord progression when a stranger asks you to play

C(3000) E7(2021) A7(0010) Am(3002) D7(3222) G6(7777) G7(2120) C G7 C

A bit like huckleberry's. The G6 gives it a little something.

my new favorite

This one is the intro from my latest original, "you might've guessed I'm in love". It works pretty well with a fingerpick/strum combo.

Fmaj7(5557) Fm6(5545) Em7(4435) Adim(2323) Dm7(2213) G7b5(0112) Cmaj7(0002) G7b5(0112)

I just answer, "no, but it's easier than carrying around a tuba." Then I hand them their sign... LOL

I am SOOOO gonna use that (with your permission, of course).

Doug that sounds great! Hey weren't you the guy with some middle eastern ones too? I would like to get some of those minor ones like eastern type ones if you have them.

Thanks, you can check out the full song on my YT channel (the link is in my signature), it should be the most recent upload.

I did have a couple of songs that have sort of a middle eastern kind of sound, but I wouldn't claim to really have any real knowledge of that music, or the scales they use. I basically "discovered" a funky dissonant chord that gives it that feel when used with a Bb minor. Here's a partial sequence of "These walls we don't see":

3111 3301 3111 3301 3111 3301 3311 2310
6666 5666 3534 0111 3301 3311 2310 3111

I also used that chord in "Gold miner's lament" and "Zombie Blues".

Because it looks kind of impressive and has a different sound to it :)

I just usually play the FIVE FOOT TWO chords and add some fancy strumming. It's also my favorite thing to play when trying a new uke.

the two songs i always go to are Pencil This Mustache by Jimmy Buffet and Jammin by Bob Marley. They both sound so sweet on the uke!

Well gosh it almost is! Huh! Except to knock that out I would replace the Bbm with a C, and then I think you then have A Kind of Hush, Thanks!

F A7 Dm F7 Bb C F C7

try this progression. stole the chords from a nancy sinatra- bang bang tab. it's really "dark" sounding.

strum fast but hold the chords longer than usual, so you accentuate the change of chords...sorry i don't know the names. first number is reentrant string

1013 - 1003 - 1313 - 1213

repeat

then you can finish with

eb to c7

0331 - 0001

**special note, best to bar across 1111 with index to pull off that 1313 chord.

I usually play 'Polly Wolly Doodle' because I can play it fast and it's an old song. It's just F and C7.

The one I posted in #12 is pretty much a variation of this one. Here's mine again for reference:

F(2010) A7#5(0110) Dm(2210) Adim?(2320)-(2323) (Bb6maj7?)3230 (C6)5450 F (2010) C7sus4(3533) C7#5(3443)

Float on by Modest Mouse because it just sound cool :)

Aloha all,
I would use an intro to "Tea for two" that I learned when I was about 12 years old (I'm 64 now). I don't know the names of the chords, just the finger positions.....learned by watching the neiborhood kids and never learned the chord names. Anyway, it goes like this......
3535.....4545.....3335.....2325..................2213.....2323.....0231.....1003
2..........2.........2..........1.(pause 1 beat)..2..........2..........2..........1........and you're done.....
It sounds cool, and make you look good..........................BO.........................
