I got my son a Recording King Resonator for Christmas. His instructor wants to teach him to use a slide. I know he would prefer a low G setup. I have a set of Aquila's but they have a would low G. Is the low G going to work with the slide or should I buy a Nylon low G string?
Thanks

Yes, either will work, but generally speaking, that one wound string bugs me, with the squeaks and tonal/volume differences, so I go with unwound for low G set ups. Having said that, for slide work that wound string gives off a very bluesy vibe on the vibrato. Like an earlier thread pointed out, strings are cheap, so try a bunch and you'll hit on something.

Cool gift! :nana:
