Aloha All!

This will serve as the OFFICIAL 2008 UU Pokemon Tournament Thread!

I have sent out PM's to those who stated that they were interested in entering previously. If you have not received a PM from me, I do apologize. If you would like to enter in the 2008 UU Pokemon Tournament, Please PM me your PalPad ID and Friend Code by Wednesday, October 8th. So that we can begin to schedule the first round of battles to start by Wednesday October 15th.

THE RULES

Sleep Clause: Standard rule, this means that no more than ONE Pokemon of the
same player can be asleep at any one time. This is to prevent
lucky sleep runs with Hypnosis and whatnot. Self-induced sleep
like Rest does NOT contribute to the clause, so you can have a
resting Pokemon, and still have another Pokemon put to sleep.
If you have already put one of your opponent's Pokemon to sleep,
and try to use a sleep move again, the move will simply fail.

Uber clause: No Ubers, simple as that.
Wobbuffet and Wynaut, although not Ubers, are usually banned for cheapness.

Species clause: No more than one species of the same Pokemon on one team.
Auto-enforced, imagine having 3 Blisseys. Or Groudons. OR
LUVDISC!

Item clause: Pokemon may not carry the same item (i.e. no more than 1 pokemon can carry soft sand or leftovers)

Evasive Clause: No more than 1 use of evasive altering move can be used on a single pokemon

and of course the all familiar rule...
no switching

Tournament Starts: October 15th, 2008

The way we had it originally set u was that everyone challenges everybody. They keep track of their win/loss record and the 4 people with the most wins advances to the next round. That way everyone can play everybody. In the case of ties, they basically challenge again to see the victor.

The next round is set as a single elimination. Semi-finals and then on to the finals.

Semi finals is a 6v6 match

The finals match is a doubles battle. 2v2

The winner of that match is then declared as the overall winner.

hmm, idk if i wanna join yet. the no switching rule is kinda weird to me. Kinda eliminates alot of strategy imo.

and isnt evasive clause no double team etc at all? or did you modify the rule?
 
OK - I wasn't at all sure what the "Evasive" clause was or what any other clauses were for that matter, so I did a little research on Serebii.Net and this is what I found...

So is this the case in the UU Pokemon Toury? I guess what I'm asking is exactly WHAT MOVES are banned? I don't want to go into the Tourny thinkin' I've got my stuff together then find out I've got an "illegal" pokemon.

It's basically any move that alters your evasion (i.e. double team)
Although you can use an evasive move ONCE per pokemon. Meaning a crobat could be buffed with double team ONCE.

So how do we do the matchups for round 1? random number generator?

btw, anyone up for exhibition match sometime this week? I gotta shake off the rust!

i think im gonna pass on the tourny. if anyone wants to test their teams, i'd be glad to give you a game though.

oh and why dont you guys like switching? seems like a weird rule to me.

yeah lostsymphonies.. I'd like to get a lil experience battling with an actual trainer. I just got Diamond not too long ago and i haven't actually battled anybody yet..
a little nervous lol.
