Highway Kind - Townes Van Zandt cover

I recorded this one with an ukulele lead for last week's Season of the Ukulele..... the more I listened to it, the less I liked the ukulele part, so I decided to upload the guitar track by itself.

I think that's my favorite TVZ song. I was wanting to try it for the Seasons, but I didn't feel like what I was doing on uke (and voice!) was going to work AT ALL. Nice job! The last verse is just heartbreaking.

thanks, Chris..... yep, I think that's about the saddest song I've ever heard, but, then again, TVZ wasn't known for his chipper disposition. I tried it on the ukulele and it just didn't work..... a lot of his songs don't - they just don't sound 'right' without the Travis picking bass lines. I have a pretty good arrangement of 'Greensboro Woman' worked out for ukulele - I was going to record it for the Seasons at an open mic on Sunday but I chickened out - it was still a little too rough for public consumption.....
