    Once the epoxy had cured I cut the aluminium dowels flush.

    And then put the plates through the sander...At this stage the plates are about 3.5 - 4 mm thick

    Next I got out my plate jointing jig.

    Glued the seam and fitted the two halves on the jig.

    Applied the twine and followed up with the wedges..and drove them in tight with the mallet.

    Wow, impressive, looks like we won't have to worry about the extiinction of exotic timber, then. Actuall, Bob Taylor did this once to prove that there is no such thing as bad tonewood.

    After an hour the glue had set and I removed it from the jig and trimmed it to shape on the bandsaw.

    I thought he did that to prove there was no such thing a bad publicity.......

    I've now made the side pieces from the same material...I try and get these profiled to the correct shape before bending co's it saves a lot of work afterwards in assembly.
