Hi, I'm Daniel.
I'm a 30 year old Aussie guy living in Japan.

I have just started learning to play the ukulele.
My strumming coordination and rhythm is terrible so I hope to improve with the help of this website.

My goals are to be able to play competently and confidently and to write interesting songs. I would also like to be able to transcribe and cover songs I like.

Welcome, and encouragement.

This is a nice place to get more information, so you can Uke better. As far as strumming goes, I'd say start simply, with down strokes on the beat, trying to tap your foot in time. It will come together.

Second, it's great you want to write songs. It helps at the beginning, though, to learn some simple popular songs so you get an idea of timing and chord structures. Then just go nuts.
