UKULELE WORLD CONGRESS 2014 * 6th Annual! *

June 6th-7th 2014
NEEDMORE (Brown County!) INDIANA

About 10 miles from Nashville Indiana off HWY45 at @ 4600 Plum Creek Rd.

Free! Compliments of Mainland Ukes

http://www.youtube.com/user/UkuleleWorldCongress

Most people show up Friday afternoon, but more and more people are showing up a day or two or three early.
You're welcome to come a day or two early, but you might end up helping with the mowing and set-up.
Some people don't leave till Monday or later!
There will be a potluck again Friday evening about 5 to 7pm. Mainland will have free water and drinks available until they run out.
There is an open mic each evening as well as a lot of other jammings all day and playing around the bonfire all night.

Nothing official planned for Sunday, but it's YOUR party so you guys can do what you want! Last year, Sunday had some nice low-key jamming and folks hanging around trying to find any excuse to prolong the experience.
The site for the UWC is a couple of big, well maintained fields with no permanent structures except for the stage. Both the fields are at least partially bordered by woods and a creek. Camping under shade is a good idea. There are a lot of good on-site camping areas that weren't really explored last year, in the back of "parking field" there are some sweet drive up and camp spots that have shade for a lot of the day.
There is basically an unlimited amount of parking and camping space. Portable toilets will be on site.
HOTELS:
Nashville is only about 10 minutes away from the UWC site and has a good variety of hotels and Bed and Breakfasts. Brown County Inn offered UWC'ers a special rate last year.

Here's some other options.

CAMPING:
Primative camping is free at the UWC site! (No showers sorry)
The local YMCA in Nashville sells $5 day passes, but I think it's free the first Saturday of the month.

PROVISIONS:
Nashville is not far and the Needmore store, good for some basics is only about a mile away.

Nashville has an IGA for food and other supplies.
There is also a CVS (cheap booze) and a liquor store in Nashville.

If you are flying ,Indianapolis International airport is about an hour or so away.

See you then family! Mike and Tookta

Wait, a thread for UWC 6 already? I guess talking about UWC helps us all get to the next year without going completely crazy :)

In the calendar.

Now? Is it now?

ON THE CALENDAR.

My son's damn school better not decide graduation should be that weekend...

I'm gonna be there. This time I'll pull my camper up!

I'm not coming back. Someone broke one of my espresso makers.

No wait. That was me who broke it. I'll be back with a bigger espresso maker.

HA!! Death couldn't keep you away! You'd probably have someone wheel your body to the field in you did die!

Trying to decompress from my first UWC this past weekend. How comforting to find that Mike has already got the thread started for UWC6. Whoo Hoo! Thanks again Mike and Tookta. What you guys have created with UWC is one fantastic experience! And, thanks to my uke for leading me to UWC and getting to meet you two and so many other great uke lovers.

I'm really happy that Mr. Hater has
decided to do this again. The last three I have been to have been quite nice.

Mike, you truly are an amazing person to host this now iconic event.

Q: your store that I see in electraukes video, is that in Nashville and do you have weekend hours? My wife wants a getaway to Nashville perhaps this autumn and I want to buy a Mainland and need a place to noodle while she bangs around the knick knack shops. Thanks. Steve

The store is in Nashville and the field is a little ways away from it.

Rats I still can't buy my plane tickets yet. I guess I can only buy them 11 months in advance.
