Johnson Resonator upgrade.

Aloha,
I have been sitting on a Johnson for a few years.Chinese knock off,it is what it is.Pretty little uke though.I was thinking of putting a National cone and Waverly tuners(the koa ones) from Elderly Instruments.100 bucks and I can swap parts.Anybody tried this.I am not looking to add value just want a little better sounding and looking uke.Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hmmmm, wondering if I should do the same thing, minus the tuners, with my Kala tenor reso. I'll be watching your replies.

I think the Johnson is branded as Ashbury in the UK.
Delta Resonator Cones has in the past upgraded Ashburys, and you can on his site find samples of before and after clips. See here:

I had a Recording King that I had the existing cone adjusted to fit better and that made a big difference. Also I was surprised how much better it sounded with higher tension Worth strings.
