Hi Folks,
I am a relatively new owner of a new Martin S-1 which I absolutely love.
I am finding one problem though relating to the nut. The corner of this seems very sharp and I find myself catching the thumb side of my index finger on it when fretting and it is becoming quite painful. I notice on my other non Martin ukes that these edges have been slightly rounded and hence don't cause any problems.
Should I use a nail file or something on it to take the sharp edge off?
I love this Uke and don't want to damage it in attempting this.
The shop I bought it from is over a 100 miles away so taking it back isn't an option and I wonder if for such a minor thing I could sort it myself.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did they resolve it.
I doubt I'm the only one having this issue.
Regards
Dave

I would try to file it myself. If you don't feel up to doing it yourself you could take it to any luthier that is close. No need to take it to the original shop.

You've got the right idea, Dave. I have a uke that had the same issue---carefully filing the sharp spot for just a few minutes fixed it right up.

Thank you both. I've used a small metal nail file on it very carefully and that has done the trick. Many thanks again.
