Yup, I certainly learned the lesson about wrestling with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig likes it. It certainly confirmed for me that at least one poster on this forum is a complete orifice. He continued to harangue me in PMs, too. And now I have another one telling me that I probably shouldn't post at all of I don't want nasty criticism. That's nonsense. 99% of the members of this community know how to give constructive feedback, even if it isn't positive. I see no reason to tolerate the 1% who are complete jerks.

If he keeps bothering you, tell a mod

The guy who started it - after dealing with the East-Start debacle - is either extremely trusting or ridiculously naive. His contact at East-Start repeatedly lied to him about things, yet he's taking everything said by "Bruce Wei" as gospel - as though there is not a chance in the world he could be lied to again.

I tried to warn people in the original thread, but it seemed to be waters off a duck's behind.

99.5% positive feedback on ebay. They can't be too horrible.

I have no doubt that there have been bad experiences. Bruce Wei fronts for many different builders, which no doubt means some instruments come out well and some come out poorly. What remains is the fact that Wei is an exporter, rather than a music shop. Real musical instrument dealers evaluate instruments and weed out bad ones before they go to their customers. It would seem that Wei puts them in a box and sends them out.

My favorite posters on that thread are the ones who say, "I bought five ukes from Bruce Wei and they all suck!!!" Good god, man, why did you ever buy more than one?

I don't understand the buy it cheap mentality. No way I want to spend a bunch of money and then go get it worked on. Seems silly to me. I say just get a good one and be done. Threads are good reading though.

I think that's the illusion of ebay, you typically give feedback more or less immediately after you receive it one piece and lot of the feedback reflects shipping etc. It doesn't reflect the fact you figured out it was crap weeks or months later.

Yup, when my Wei arrived, my first reaction was, "hmm, not bad for a few bucks, and it plays pretty well." So I'm one of those 99.5%-- I got exactly what I expected. If it splits down the middle in a month, there's no way for me to revise my feedback, but frankly, I wouldn't really care, either.

That's a good point.

A long time favorite, Rob. Thanks....

Rob, here's the version we used in our uke group. It's very much like the one you posted, but with a few differences. Try it, and see what you think of it....

Walkin' After Midnight
Patsy Cline

Verse 1:

Out in the [F] moonlight just like we used to do,
I'm always [C] walking after [F] midnight [G7] searching for [C] you. [G7]

Verse 2:

I walk for [C] miles along the [C7] highway,
Well that's just [F] my way of saying I love you,
I'm always [C] walking after [F] midnight [G7] searching for [C] you. [C7]

Chorus:

I stopped to [F] see a weeping willow,
Crying on his pillow, [C] maybe he's crying for me. [C7]
And [F] as the skies turn gloomy,
Night winds whisper to me, I'm [C] lonesome as I can [G7] be.

Verse 3:

I go out [C] walking after [C7] midnight,
Out in the [F] starlight, just hoping you may be,
Somewhere a [C] walking after [F] midnight [G7] searching for [C] me. [C7]

Chorus

I go out [C] walking after [C7] midnight,
Out in the [F] starlight, just hoping you may be,
Somewhere a [C] walking after [F] midnight [G7] searching for [C] me. [C]

That's a new one on me, Rob! :D I'm not a Sponge Bob watcher....

No say it isn't so.

I don't see much difference. [Dm] after the F chord on mine?

Yes, and also another chord change, to G, on that same line. Yours has G chords where the other uses G7's, too. I think there are also some slight differences in the last chords of the verses (turnarounds?)....
