Hello I recently came across a Martin soprano was wondering what are the best strings to put on it. I don't see any cracks or holes on it. Seems to be in great condition I'm not sure of the year it was made in. Maybe someone can fill me in on that I'm pretty clueless. Thank you Rene

Nice one. You are going to get recommendations all over the place. Believe it or not, many of these old Martins sound awesome with Aquilas....who'd a thunk it? A lot depends on how you want it to sound....mellower, brighter, in-between............etc.

God, I love a good Martin ukulele. Not fancy or blingy or anything. Just perfectly ordinary and perfectly wonderful.

The "Made in USA" stamp was added in 1960. It is a Style 0 (Zero). I use Aquila concert strings on my Martin sopranos.

Martin M600 strings sound great on them, and are fairly easy to find.
The "Made In USA" stamp was added in 1960, as Tim Mullins said above. By the mid to late '60s, I think they were making very few of them, so odds are it's from the first half of the '60s. It's in great shape. Enjoy!
