Glad to see this, I've been stealing tunes out of my daughter's violin practice and "arranging" them for uke. Old Joe Clark, Swallowtail Jig, Devil's Dream, Appalachia Waltz, Whiskey Before Breakfast. Trouble is I know near nothing about arranging, and have a tough enough time just learning the basic melody line without worrying about embellishments!
The beauty of it is that while most FTs are in A or D or G, the Fiddle and the low-G uke have the same lowest note, so there is no transposition necessary. Also these melodies are so perfectly rich, circular and hypnotic that they are hard to stop playing.
Cool interview, I look forward to the book. Thanks!
