Hi
i found this uke at my grandfather storehouse
It complitely broken
I will restored it with some solid wood (macassar ebony)

But i just strugle with the string gauge
It have 7 string (doubled at 1st 2nd 3rd string)
So what gauge string should i use?
Are that 4th string need higher gauge than the 1,2,3 string?

Thanks

That is one odd looking instrument and darned if I can find out what it is. Each of the the 3 courses is wound around a single peg with the fourth as a sort of drone string. Fascinating. Anybody know what it is?

You haven't said what the scale length is. If tenor then I might try a low G tuning, with an octave pair on the C, and unision on the e and a.
Its around 408mm / 16inch?

This is not an ukulele. What country was your grandfather from?
Indonesia, iam also din’t really sure if this an ukulele. Its strange shape! And very uncommon in here
