Basketball Jones (Cheech and Chong)

Was trying to figure out if the basketball hitting the floor was in rhythm...

Great video and very impressed with your shooting!
Thanks, rainbow21! Any rhythmic bouncing of the ball was purely coincidental! :)

stop it! now you're just messing with me. I might have to revisit this later, after I hit the court this evening, or before game 2 maybe.

or maybe i need to learn this song for this SOTU season?! I don't have the editing skills of John tho!
Thanks, lanzon, for bringing this old thread back! I hadn't been on UU for a while and was surprised to see this thread!

Thanks, Bill! I wonder if an ukulele artist has ever done a half-time show? Jake surely would wow the crowd!
Big Bambu was my first ever LP record... I wore it out during Junior High school. I Didn't even know what pot was then and had zero idea that Big Bambu was a brand of rolling papers... seems funny now. I'm amazed my parents never figured out what they were singing about!

I was a BB junkie myself back then. I love the line "I even put that basketball under my pillow... maybe that's why I can't sleep at night!" This was super funny because my baseball loving friends used to sleep on their gloves thinking they would be more reliable because of that...

Good times!

Gladly! I started a basketball thread where we've discussed a little bit of the playoffs, but more nostalgic hoop memories, for now. The playoffs are wild right now! My legs are tired from mowing the lawn, but I gotta get on the court!! I'm a victim of a basketball jones!

I was expecting you to break into a falsetto...."Ever since I was a little baby; I always be dribblin'...."

I was doing this in the car yesterday, cracking myself up. My favorite line is "that basketball was like a basetball to me!" Nothing greater! #ballislife

I remember thinking that sleeping with a basketball in your arms would be good for your game!

I used to be in a fantasy basketball league and was the first to "own" LeBron James when he was rookie. I was really into it! We used to have around ten owners and we'd draft 15 players each, so you really had to know the players and their relative fantasy worth!

Heh heh! Chris Rock made a "bald" joke about Michael Jordan. We've seen bald jokes can be dangerous!

I liked the "in the house" part of the song. Pretty interesting that they put Barry White on the same track as Chris Rock!

Continuing the irony: Chris Rock is in the movie "Air" (Prime video) where he is part of the Nike team trying to sign Michael Jordan to a Nike shoe contract. Very worth the view.

Ooh! I gotta check that out.

Remember when he was little Penny? I imagine that played a part in him landing the song gig.

Thanks for suggesting the movie "Air." I just watched it and enjoyed it very much! It's actually Chris Tucker in the movie, but it's easy to mix those guys up! :)

Watched it last night too! When I first saw the trailer, i wasn't sure it was worth making a movie about shoes, but it's a good film. Lots of nostalgia too, for hoop heads.

Nothing but net!

Basketball and golf have been my two favorite sports in my life, and at age 61 I still enjoy shooting baskets. Unfortunately I don't think I can play full court anymore. I'd probably start cramping after a couple times up and down the court. But I might give you a run for your money at H-O-R-S-E.

Hope you like my quickie rendition of Cheech and Chong's ode to basketball.
Nice! I had that cheech and chong album as a kid.
