Canadians, heads up! Enya Nova Sopranos in blue or black are on sale on amazon for $45.99 Canuckistanian pesos

Black was a $39 Lightning sale on U.S. Amazon. Picked one up to match my concert Nova U for my office. Thanks for the heads up.

I paid $64.00 for the concert version I bought for my wife. I was very impressed with how good it sounded, I was actually shocked. It had comfortable action as well and I tend to like it low. I think it definitely hits above its price point. I don't know if that's true for all the other sizes but it is for the concert I bought.

I cant speak for the sopranos either, but honestly the tenors are pretty excellent and sound great and clean to my ears. This isvmy tenor, which has a crack in the bottom from me dropping it and is covered in stickers

Love your playing on that. Is that something you wrote? I just purchased one that I got yesterday. How is the action on yours? Mine seems a little high. Not much saddle to shave down. Not sure what else I could do.

Thank you! That was some noodling of Georgia on my Mind and based on the tab at ukulelehunt.com.

My action came quite high, around 3.5mm. I pulled out the saddle and shaved it down a bit and I believe the action is around 2.5 or 2.25mm now, which isnt smooth as butter but is still very playable.

Ok thanks, looks like I might have to do that, but like I said not much saddle now without taking more off. It would have been better if the bridge was not as high

I had to check the action on mine after hearing how high @scrambled_eggs was. At the first fret it was .75mm and 2.75mm at the 12th. I must have lucked out. I like low action and was concerned I might have to have the action lowered when I bought it.

You won't have to remove much hopefully! Show a pic of what yours looks like if you're nervous about it. Is it the tenor model? I feel like I still have plenty I can remove on mine if needed.

yes its the tenor model. It has a pickup. I'll take a pic and post it.

Here is one side, then the other

Whats your action at 12 fret now? The saddle is inset in the bridge and it looks like theres still a good bit you can lower it if needed. I jist lowered it a little bit on each string change until I found a nice spot for me. I double checked and its currently at 2.5 on mine.

I contacted Enya about the action. I'm hoping they have one with better action. If not, this might just go back.

Looks like a plastic toy. Are they actually playable?
These have been around a long time. Barry gave good reviews to the different sizes. Watch Feng E play one here:

For those of you who want to buy one with US dollars, I understand that Amazon USA will have some of the versions on sale tomorrow afternoon (Monday August 14).

My soprano was here when I got home, and I have been playing it all night. The body is easier to play for me than the concert version. I still wish the neck button was on the other side so it would lay a little better with my anatomy, but that is a minor quibble. The sound is good, and it is starting to ring out now that the strings are beginning to stay in tune. Stock strings are ok, so D'DarrioTitanium will be put on whenever I do a string change, like I have on the concert Nova U. Well worth $40 bucks.

I loved everything about it but, I had to send it back. They told me they could send me a new saddle. So I guess they didn't understand my problem. A new saddle would not have made a difference. Now on the hunt for another one.

I own somewhere between 15 to 17 Enya Nova U ukes. When they first came out, I ordered one of the concerts with the pick up/ effects. When the tenors came out, I ordered one of those also with the pick up/ effects. Most of you probably know the tenors have metal frets, and the smaller sizes have frets built in to the soundboard, of the same materials as the rest of the uke.

So I own one tenor and around eight concerts and around six sopranos. All are black, except for a white concert and my white tenor. I did not get a special deal though I did pick most up on the occasional deeply discounted sale.

Why in the HE double toothpicks would anyone buy so many of those? Especially all the same color?

I have been leading a crash course for first time players for a couple years and maintain a loaner stable of loaner Ukuleles for the tender fingers to ride. Initially collected a random assortment of bargain used ukes. But then I decided I wanted them to all be the same. I went with the Enya’s because they sound good, have always been easy to play with nice low buzz free action, their thin bodies let me pack a bunch into a rolling suitcase, and they are less affected by changes in temp and humidity.

Based on my experience, I think any that get shipped with high action are a rare.

I’m not going to do it right now, but when I go over them the next time I’lo check them with my action gauge and report back with my results.

BTW, I also own a tenor Enya Feather, a concert Kaka, a soprano and a two concert HPLs, and used to own one of their base model tenors of traditional laminated wood design. All of those also arrived with low action and buzz free easy playbility (especially for me since I prefer a radiused fretboard which they all have). I think they sound sweet, including the Nova Us.

When I teach these first time players, I recommend they either buy from Mim, HMS, or buy an
Enya because it is the most reliably consistent brand I have encountered among inexpensive online ukes.

I do play my Enyas regularly and enjoy them, but they are not the nicest ukes I own, or the ones I enjoy the most. I am not compensated and do not have any financial interest in the company that makes Enyas. They just fit my needs for the class the best.

BTW, before I switched to the Enyas, for sopranos I preferred the Kala Sharks and Dolphins. Their bodies are as thin as the Enyas, believe it or not. Since they no longer make those in concert size, I have a random smattering of concerts I used to use in the class. I will be selling those locally soon.
