Do you use a music stand or something else?

I originally bought a table top folding stand: wishacc Book Stand XL-Large Size 15.4" x 11.0" Main Board-Adjustable Foldable Book Holder with Page Holder Clips - Holds Cookbooks, Receipe Books, Textbooks, Tablets, Laptops, Music Books, Documents

This didn't always work because I didn't have a table to set it on, so I got a floor standing music stand: Amazon Basics Professional Folding Orchestra Sheet Music Stand

However, that one isn't very portable, so I'm planning on buying a compact portable one, so I can easily take it to jams etc.: On-Stage SM7122BB Compact Folding Music Stand with Bag

Hind sight being 20/20 I probably should have gone strait to the compact folding stand. However, it probably won't be able to support my iPad, but that's a trade off I'm willing to take for portability's sake.

Also, the flat back of the Amazon Basics Professional Orchestra Sheet Music Stand is in two pieces, and no mater what I do, if I grab it by the top on accident, it comes apart. Not a big deal, just annoying.

Whenever I am learning (or reacquainting myself with) a tune, I use my Manhasset music stand. Made by a cooperatively owned company in the USA, and bombproof. Accept no substitute, ha.

Back before I switched to the ipad and onsong, I often used a steel chrome covered table stand. Once, I dropped it endwise onto my bare toes. It really hurt, as it broke the skin.

Those are like military grade, what are they, about 10 kilograms?

I just noticed that your avatar is the Hot Five ...

yeah they are not very portable but great for the house, or for practice spaces.

Well spotted! I love Louis and especially the early stuff.

I like Louie's earliest work the best. I have all the Fives and Sevens, but nothing after. After someone told him he could sing, and he got more celebrity, it just wasn't the same. Sorry folks, his voice was no match for his horn ..

Another take -- I have all my sheet music digitized, so it's on my iPad in it's case, which acts as a stand. :)

Had a flimsy music stand that wasn’t good in the wind, wouldn’t stay up so was thinking of getting a Manhasset. However, found this Vekkia music stand that’s almost as sturdy, can collapse & comes with a carry bag. Really happy with it.
