Title. Trying to get an Ohta-san on trade. Not sure is TUS takes in ukes on trade. If they do take trades, and someone has gone through that with them, what was your experience like?

I called to ask this once, and was told that they'll take in a good used uke but not as part of a trade.

Elderly takes trades and I think they still have an Ohta San in stock.
Yes, they do and yes, they do.

Elderly is my local store, I've been doing business with them since 1974.

I bet they'd love your Ana'ole too, @ukeclass ... although it  would be nice to keep it in the UU family.
I'd prefer keeping it in the UU family too. I just got a response from Elderly, they told me they would be happy to take it on consignment, so I guess they no longer take trades?

Hmmmmm, must be a policy change. They were willing to do a trade a Martim guitar for another Martin guitar a couple months ago. I will say that their consignment deal is better.

Elderly does:
  • purchase of instruments (least % to customer)
  • trades
  • consignments (highest % to customer)
I have done all three many times over the years.

Possibly, they may have their own reason for not doing a trade on a particular instrument.

Just saw this notice on the Elderly website:

Update: As of 11/01/23, as a temporary measure we will only be taking instruments in to sell on consignment or trade-ins toward an Elderly gift card.
