Maybe I went overboard for a first Uke, but I bought it used. I'm a guitar guy BTW. I plan to try a Martin concert and an Islander for the 38mm nut width.

It's set up perfectly. Nut, 12th fret/saddle, and the neck relief.

Spruce tops have more "pop" to the tone, which I like in guitars. The gloss finish and slothead add appeal. And the neck is satin. The frets being radiused and having an adjustable truss rod seem like nice extras.

It sounds beautiful too. LOL, I was in bed last night transposing uke to Guitar and vice versa in my head.

Thanks for being here everyone. I've learned much from you and you seem like like folks!

Great choice and they are built to last! I like your next choice of a Martin concert. Nice ukes, different voice being Koa and a little smaller body. And it so happens I have one listed on here. Just bumped it up so it's easy to find. Prettier Koa than is typical on these (I think). Sounds like you will fit right in here, already thinking ahead!

You're in an all uke band, right? I was selling a Pono baritone on Reverb.com for a friend. I thought that Pono was soooo nice. Did a friend or relative of yours buy that Pono from me? After that I kept thinking about ukes and then my girlfriend signed me up to take a week long uke class at John C Campbell Folk School while she is taking a craft type class. Now I'm a uke person too!

Small world. If it's the uke I'm thinking of, the Bari player in the band has it. I'm always recommending ukes I find here to "the boys in the band". Believe it or not, I have even bought a few for myself. :ROFLMAO: Like you and many here, I came to uke by way of guitar. Now I'm down to 2 guitars (that rarely get played) and "several" ukes! And I'm spreading the love by teaching Beginning Uke classes (a good excuse for buying ukes that eventually will be sold to new students). Congrats again on your Pono.

Congratulations! Excellent first uke. At one time I owned 4 Ponos. (Six over the years.) Now just one, my favorite, a Spruce/Rosewood Tenor Cutaway. With Living Waters Fluorocarbon Strings. Great voice.

If you think you really want to dive in with more purchases right away and you want a Martin concert - Ricks uke in the Marketplace would be a great choice.

That Pono you got is an excellent uke - that was a great choice. Enjoy it awhile. You can experiment with different strings too if you like.
Please don't get the OP started on strings .... the never ending search of many. .. :)

I think there is a String Switching Syndrome. I have thankfully not succumbed .... 🤪
