I bought a set of Gotoh UKA Ukulele Tuners (friction tuners) for a concert ukulele I am building (https://luthiersupplies.com.au/gotoh-uka-4in-ukulele-tuners-set-of-4-nickel). The tuners are not recommended for tenor or larger, as they don't cope with the extra string tension. I wanted to fit Hannabach Concert Ukulele Super-Carbon Goldin 235MHT (http://www.hannabach.com/en/strings/ukulele-flourocarbon) however I'm concerned that if the Hannabach strings operate at higher tension than most others they may be too much for the tuners.

Does anyone out there have any experience of the suitability of friction tuners for Hannabach HT strings?

Perhaps call the supplier and ask them.

I use these on a concert and guess that the tension is less than standard strings on a tenor but it is unknown at what tension issues might occur.

they advertise "perfect intonation" on those strings. hah hah, yah right. As if there was such a thing on a concert ukulele.

I'm pretty sure those are exactly the Gotoh friction tuners that came on a Japanese tenor scale ukulele (Yairi) I bought new and have had awhile. They hold tune very well. I do have the screws tightened down to where they're stiffer than Gotoh planetaries, for instance, but not so tight as to be hard to use. They work well for me.
Hope that helps. Again, not positive they're the same model, but they look identical.
