I’m Chuck, and I’ve been building cigar box style ukuleles for about ten years, including shaping my necks. I know cigar boxes aren’t “traditional”, but getting a great sound out of a square box isn’t easy - sound waves don’t like square corners - and each one is a bit of a challenge. Having said that, I hope to be welcomed into this forum.

Well, your hope is realized. Welcome to the forum! Where do you find quality cigar boxes these days?

Someone recently mentioned a "loog" which I gather is a 3-string.

Spruce top caught my ear: are 3 strings typical for C-box builds?

In GBE? What scale length?

LOOG is doable in cigar box format. Many cigar box instruments builders do build three string instruments. Not sure about scale length.

Welcome CeehuckB. I'm another fan of acoustic cigar box ukes. I've made about a dozen, mostly using real cigar boxes, but I made the box myself on a couple of them.

Welcome Chuck. Very cool that you make cigar box ukes. You'll have to show us some pix of some of your creations. (With sound samples—if possible?)
