Raised on the island of Oahu and around Hawaiian music since small kid time... so fortunate to have seen Gabby Pahinui, Atta Isaccs,Kahauano Lake, Skippy and Israel Kamakawiwiole, Peter Moon, Moe Keale, the list goes on. Nowadays you have to search hard to find live Hawaiian music...So sad... covid didnt help but neither did the internet as people can stay home and play the computer keyboard...we need to support our local musicians!!! And you hotel and bar owners need to bring local musicians back into your venues!!!! God bless Jackie "Skylark" Rossetti and all she put into the Hawaiian musics rebirth some years back.

Welcome to UU, Hano!
Yes, musicians and pubs/bars are still struggling in the aftermath of Covid. Hopefully, you're still able to find a good amount of Hawaiian music where you live. OTOH, the ukulele is suitable for many genres, styles, playing techniques etc. There's surely also the option of starting a litte uke club and spreading Hawaiian music yourself!

Welcome to the UU forums, it's nice that you've found us. Live music is starting to get back here (although not Hawaiian... which isn't surprising, I'm not in Hawaii), but yes, it's been a struggle for many.

I can feel you lifting up Hawaiian music and culture, @Hano . Mahalo!

Welcome to UU Hano, and a warm hello from Chicago!
