Moving the forum today!

The new forum looks fantastic. Haven't encountered any bugs yet, although I still need to test some of the special characters that previously resulted in posts getting cut. Once the new VIP thingamabob is established I will finally put my money where my mouth is.

The only negative thing I've noticed is that stickied threads don't really stand out from the rest which can be a tad confusing. I've no idea about the features of the new forum version but it would be nice to have stickied threads stand out with a different colour or something.
Funny... I used to type some French accented characters in my posts and they would get clipped in the old forum. I didn't even know that was a bug but I noticed it only recently and it was annoying. Here are some French, German and Spanish words as a test here since I am pretty good in all those languages:

French: belvédère (lookout/viewpoint) - 2 different accents
German: Fußgängerübergang (pedestrian crossing) - 3 different accents
Spanish: mañana (tomorrow) - 1 accent

BTW - you're right about the sticky threads not standing out.

Cheers,

Petey

I just realized that UU is using the same forum app as Talk Bass, XenForo, very happy to see that. I suggest Rayan, get in touch with them for details on setting, up. The Talk Bass forum is the best I've ever seen.

just checking to see if my avatar is screwed up , I think it is .

The "Needs Moderation" thing is on the older posts, but not the newer...

And still no edit buttons. Maybe things start to show up the more you access the forum?

please post any bugs you might find in this thread. we are working to reestablish the UU VIP program again with the new software and hopefully make it better than ever with more perks.
Hi Rayan - is anybody looking into the bug which is stopping UU VIP people from seeing the Edit/Report/Delete options on posts, and preventing them from editing their signatures?

So far so good! Thanks Rayan!

Brilliant, Petey. I'm fairly certain the usage of accent characters alone was the single most common reason for truncated posts. I didn't even dare test my native umlaut letters, but here goes.

Why not throw a few Å and å in the mix as well.

edit.

Seems to be working perfectly, that's great news.

Regarding the avatars, those seem to be borked across the board. Probably just better to upload a new one.

Hey Rayan, the changes are really pretty, how do I change my icon to one that fits better?
Thanks

Well my longer post got sent to time out too. Not sure why all of my posts are automatically awaiting moderator approval, but it seems to be specific to my account, as several other posts have come in today, including short ones.

Now to try to figure out how to contact the mods...
Seems the permissions for VIP Members has be limited. No: Report, Edit or Delete links. No way to contact the moderator excepts start a "Conversation" with Rayan?

I also seem to have inherited my sig file from the previous board software, but I can't find any way to edit it? Do others have a way to find their signature and edit it?

If you click on your User Name in the horizontal bar near the top of the screen, one of the options in the drop-down box should include a link to your signature. It worked for me, but it may be one of those functions that is not fully operational for UU VIPs yet. Hopefully soon. :)

I just looked at that.. In the old forum, the maximum avatar size was 80x80 pixels - now it suggests a minimum of 400 x 400.

So I uploaded a 400x482 .jpg, and voila! Clean and clear.

Bit I still can't edit my posts.

For some reason, VIP Members like me, don't have Report, Edit, Cancel or Delete links available.

I've also tried to post a photo as both an image and attached file, and both show up in my post and the Preview, but disappear when I leave the thread.

I use MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 and Firefox 91.0.2 (64 bit) as my browser.

Hi everyone, we'll be making the big move to the new forum software today.

We will need to lock the forum while we snapshot and move everything over. this process will take a few hours. so if you see the forum is down, please be patient. we will be back and this will ensure the forum will be around for years to come.

Thank you all for your patience and for being a part of the UU forum for so long. here's to new beginnings!
I get the message “waiting for monitor approval” when posting. Also it says new member … 2016 Is new?

Seems on of the main reasons for moving to this up-to-date forum service was to eliminate the truncating caused by unrecognized characters.

Has anyone found the "previous" and "next" keys used to move from thread to thread while within a forum?
