I need suggestions for a strap for my Kamaka and KoAloha that both have pickups installed. I need something big enough that it'll "glide" around the button built into the receiver, but also strong enough to hold it. I was using a Kala red one with leather ends with a tie on one end, but it kept making the end receiver unthread, and then the whole jack came loose. (I had to take it out and realign the nuts on the inside too.) I need to either have a headstock adapter, or ties built in as my Kamaka has a slotted headstock, and they don't have neck buttons. I've seen some "locking" ones from D'addario, but not sure if they work with Uke, or they come with a locking side, and then tie side. Attached is my specific pickup jack.

Alright! This looks pretty cool. I hope the ukes still fit in their factory cases. I know the KoAloha has a little wiggle room, but the Kamaka is quite snug. However, it doesn't look like it protrudes much more than the standard jack. I also ordered the D'addario universal strap lock kit, so hopefully they fit that.

I use this D'Addario CinchFit endpin jack strap lock on a uke with a Fishman jack and it works well. Kinda large and clunky looking though.

I really like Tap-A-String's StrapKeeper specifically for this-- unobtrusive, 'soft' (no protuding/obvious plastic: there's an open plastic ring that snaps directly to the groove in the pickup jack, the rest is a small strong cord and leather), and works with any strap.

I've found that most strap holes are too tight as received. I always have to expand them somehow. Tight but not too tight is tricky.

I like the idea of the locking, easy-on, easy-off straps, but they make different kinds, and they are not interchangeable. They add weight to the strap, too. Still, I think they are a good idea because they attach and detatch quickly. It's a matter of finding the kind you like and sticking with it.

I also use this.

I just did an installation of one of these. Recommended.

Accessory Review - MusicNomad Acousti-Lok Strap Lock Adapter

I bought this, and it works well on my Kamaka. However, I'm not sure which strap locks are compatible with this adapter. Do you know which ones to buy that work? The tie on headstock adapter makes me feel secure, but the extra lock on the hell will put me even more at ease.

I just swapped it out for the standard strap adapter; I would suggest reaching out to MusicNomad directly.

Another vote for the Tap-a-string. It's on all my ukes with pick-ups. Works great with my Sherrins Threads straps.
