Tina Turner passed away today, May 24, 2023 at age 83.

While she didn't play ukulele and as far as I know, they didn't appear in any of her acts, she was a great entertainer.

Proud Mary became her song. We've played it many times at my ukulele club.

Thank you Tina for your contributions to Rock'N'Roll and pop music. You will be missed.

And I’m a woman so I can say it: those legs! It was as if she were performing as a duo—there was Tina and her music, then there were Her Legs.

edit: In the office where I used to work, a colleague had a near life-size photo of Tina, performing at a concert, on the wall above his desk. Her legs took up two-thirds of the poster.

Hanes picked up Tina Turner in the mid 90s to be the "legs" representative for their hosiery. She was 57 at the time.

I remember the huge posters of Tina in the Macy's store. Prominently showcasing her gams. I had to stop and admire the design of the poster. ;)

I have been living in Switzerland for the past ten years. Tina Turner lived not too far from me in Kusnacht, south of Zurich, on the shores of the Lake of Zurich. Since moving here, I have been saying to people living in the area that I wanted an audience with Tina Turner to be able to shake her hand and thank her for her contributions to rock and roll. It never came to pass. It is ironic (only to me in my dreaming mind) that now, as I prepare to leave Switzerland, The Queen of Rock and Roll has passed on to the other shore.

Thank you, Tina. You taught the boys how to sing.
