Sandwiches, how do you make 'em?

I ate cereal with water for a while in college. I didn't have a fridge in my room to keep milk and cereal was cheap and easy. I don't really remember but I think it was crunch berries.
My boyfriend at the time used to eat ramen straight out of the package.

I never liked tomatoes until I was in my twenties. But those little itty salad tomatoes are always delicious no matter what time of the season, so I'll have those along side a sandwich when I can get some! (They just fall off if you try to slice them and apply directly to sandwich).

I used to hate them too. I still don't eat the cherry tomatoes unless they've been opened. I don't like the burst of slime exploding in my mouth. I have grown to love roma and beefsteak, and several other large varieties of tomatoes. They are great on sandwiches. I cut them pretty thin. I hate a sandwich with chunky veggies. It makes a mess.

I actually love how the burst in the mouth! But I can understand the aversion. If I'm throwing them into some pasta, I will slice them in two. But I'm really lazy in the kitchen.

Here's one I like:
Toast two sourdough slices in the same slot, pressed against each other. Lay the bread down toasted side up and grate some sharp white cheddar on the hot slices. Add lots of horseradish and a little mayo, also red sauerkraut and arugula.
(I like to make the prepared horseradish and sauerkraut at home)

When you guys talk about sprouts do you mean bean sprouts? I’m guessing you don’t mean Brussels sprouts? Not that I’d personally have any problem with Brussels sprouts in a sandwich, in fact I quite often stick them in a sarnie to use up Christmas leftovers, I’d just be a bit surprised if there were that many other people on the planet who’d be up for that.
The sprouts I was referring to are alfalfa, radish, cress, clover, sunflower, pea, etc. I do sometimes shred Brussels sprouts for sandwiches and salads, though.

The only sandwich that beats two homegrown Beefsteak tomatoes between two fresh, soft slices of white bread slathered with Duke's mayo is the same sandwich with thinly sliced, soft, ripe avocado added. And, unless you're lactose intolerant, a big ole mug o' ice cold whole milk.

This reminds me of the Hee-Haw skit in which Grandpa Jones announced that day's supper menu just a beat after pretending, mime-style, to clean a glass-less kitchen window. Yuuuuum Yum!

Lol I used uncooked ramen bricks as bread for pb&j at least twice that I can remember and it was terrible both times.
Ever "dip" coffee grounds to stay awake? Didn't do it in college but during 3-day field training between my junior year of college and the Armor Officer's Basic Course.

Hahah no, but we did use “no doze” with alarming regularity

Nice dense Borodinsky style bread, smeared with light barrier of real butter, fresh sliced cheddar cheese, touch of coarse whole grain mustard, slice of purple onion, nice thick slice of Spam, then heat it all in oven.

Ate these aboard ship in U S Coast Guard many times after trading for bread with crew on Russian fishing vessels when we boarded them for inspections.

Still have them when I can find a bakery that makes this loaf the right way.

For sub sandwiches hot pepper relish is a must. Like Provolone on real cheesesteaks. (No Whiz ever)Now remembering Tortas from the roach coaches in NorCal.

Sure no sandwiches worth buying here in boring food Burlington.

My husband was in the army reserves and he would eat instant coffee on field training because he couldn't be bothered to boil water.
