Hiya all,

I recently picked up this Schireson Hollywood ukulele. Overall a nice piece. I am trying to find the value. I see plain ukes sell in the $500 to $600 range. Why can't I find comps for this model? Where would the best place to sell it?

Thanks Steve PXL_20240503_025056802.jpgPXL_20240503_025102745.jpgPXL_20240503_025126475.jpgPXL_20240503_025110354.jpg

Lovin’ that exaggerated figure 8 shape! Admitting my significant ignorance, is that the shape that makes a uke “Kingdom Era” or is it a reference to Hawaiian history?

EDIT: it was a stupid question. I’ve educated myself. I regret such insensitivity.

Ukulelezaza is quite knowledgeable on these ukes. the Fleamarket Music Forum marketplace might be a good spot for getting a fair price.

From 'The Glory of Love':
  • designer of these ukes was Robert E. Pearson
  • there were four styles/models, 6 (mahogany), 8 (koa), 9 (koa with spruce top) and 10 (rosewood and shell), with perhaps a missing 7 (mahogany with rope binding?)
  • presumably the model numbers 1-5 were reserved for soprano models.
