Season 587

Ok, so as there is no U2 song I can think of that fits this season, I asked ChatGPT to write me a song with Chord about How I met Your Mother. This is what it came up with (performed by me obviously ;-))

Sham-a-Ling-Dong-Ding - Jesse Winchester

I had a cousin George who was a year older than me. I first met his girlfriend, Lynne, at George's family's cottage when we were both 16 or 17. We lost George a few years back, but still keep in touch with Lynne, her sons, grandsons and great grandsons. Lynne and George had a true love story and I thought of them the first time I heard Jesse Winchester sing this song.

I wonder if ChatGPT has access to YouTube sound samples/ transcriptions and UU thread content. Maybe it can write me a paoriginal and AI can perform it in his voice.

I'll give it til 2025.

And yup, we're going for the oh-no-I-blundered-my-queen metaphor again, yall. Because when it comes to relationships it's always either that or monsoons :D

Screw it, have this one too. Same theme, oh no I walked into a giant disaster

Lyrics:

Black hair spills down to the point of his clavicle
The iron ore of his eyes seems to burn red and gold

I yearn
I long
I burn

Wild and drunken I give in to the power of the monsoon
I'm alive and narcotized
But I know this will end too soon

Black leather gilds the lines of his back
The dying evening sun lights the gold-brown whorls of his eyes

I crave
I roil
I rage

Reckless and foolish I give in to the might of the monsoon
I'm alive and narcotized
But I know this will end too soon

Black magic laces the tips of his fingers
He reaches down to a place where the earth fractures and rolls

I need
I hunt
I feed

Mad and frenzied I give in to the rage of the monsoon
I'm alive and narcotized
But I know this will end too soon

@LimousinLil and @hands_on_lanzon are you using mobile or desktop? I'm on my mobile right now and don't see the icon to embed video either. I'll go check desktop.
On it.

In the meantime, @LimousinLil and @hands_on_lanzon if you're linking a YouTube, I think you can just copy & paste the URL directly into your message and it looks like it will automatically convert to a preview, so that should at least solve the "I can't upload my video!!!!" issue in short order.

Yes, I'm absolutely working on bringing back the button, but the "paste the URL" solution IS the solution! You should try that even when I get the button back, too! :)

It not only works with YT, but also Vimeo, Spotify, Facebook, Dailymotion, and a dozen or so others. Not the embed code -- nothing as fancy as that. Just the URL, plain and simple, pasted. Our forum software automatically parses that link, and turns it into a full embed. It's kinda magic, honestly.

My apologies for losing that button, though! Completely unintentional! I was trying to lose the BB code brackets that trip so many of you up, and clearly missed the mark! Working on both!

More soon,
Tim

AAAAAND, we're back! Sorry to have lost it for a minute there....but for folks who'd been relying on that button, have you tried the pasting the URL directly in the post trick? It's so fast and easy!

That said, we're all about choosing your own adventure, and if that "Media embed" button is your jam, we're glad to have it there for you!

Thanks for the quick response, as always. I've posted just the URL directly before, but never really noticed the difference. Maybe I'm wasting myself a few clicks! Thanks!!

A song about a love triangle full of deceit and betrayal, stolen property played on mandolin with hip hop beats... moral of the story, you will get yourself shot if you make outrageous fashion statements like cocking your hat a certain way.😀🥴🤪

Thanks Tim and others who keep the cogs turning smoothly in the background.

A thousand apologies. Thine host has been absent in the last 24 hours. Life just got in the way. I wouldn't mind if it were productive creative life, but it was largely administrative, bureaucratic and practical. I Had to go to X Office and then Y office before being sent back to X and forwarded to Z. Then I had to hang around in my old flat waiting for the Gas Man to come and do the Quinquennial check of our gas installation because my daughter (who is currently "squatting" there) was away. She is off to meet her boyfriend's parents in the South of Spain . Hmmm.... not sure how to take that... Then, I must confess, I went to a local Irish Bar to watch Manchester City humiliate Real Madrid (4-0) and gain a well earned place in the final. If you knew how much Barcelona fans hate Real Madrid, then you'd realise why that was an essential visit, rather than a dereliction of my hosting duty. 😊

Some great stuff been posted while I was AWOL. Keep it coming!

May I just add my thanks to the technicians for getting the show back on the road!

I know Aldi is throughout Europe..not sure about US. Since retiring and living on my savings I've become a cheapskate hence doing my grocery shopping at Aldi as it's cheaper. The interesting part of Aldi is the middle section where they have an always changing display of weird gadgets, gee gaws and assorted consumer flotsam and jetsam. last weekend there was a clarinet next to an Wood lathe next to a selection of 6XL jeans for the larger gent.,
This song is about attraction in and of The Middle Aisles. Sometimes my originals get called a bit "Dylanesque"..I think this one is a little "Armstrongesque" :)
Aldi confirmed in US.

Your host's first contribution to this Season is a song written especially for this week's theme. It tells how three famous historical couples met and poses the question: "Were those meetings meant to be?"

I hope you like:
